What a thermal clip-on is and how it works
A thermal clip-on is a device that mounts with an adapter in front of the objective of your day optics. A sensitive thermal sensor captures heat radiation and shows it on an internal display, so through your proven optics you see a thermal image - even in complete darkness, fog or dense cover. Clip-ons work at 1x magnification, so the image stays natural and without any shift.
Clip-on or a standalone thermal device
The biggest advantage of a clip-on is that you keep the day optics you are used to - by day you observe as usual and at night you simply attach the clip-on. If you are looking for a handheld device for finding and watching game, have a look at our observation thermal imagers. What to consider when choosing
Three things decide. The sensor - a resolution of 384x288 is enough for most situations, 640x512 offers more detail; the lower the NETD value in mK, the better the image in damp and rain. Lens diameter - a larger objective (50 to 60 mm) means longer detection range. The adapter - the ring is chosen according to the outer diameter of your day optics objective; we will gladly help you pick the right diameter and quality adapters can be found in accessories. PIXFRA Taurus LRF models additionally have a built-in laser rangefinder.
